The Celebrant Society - Funeral Celebrancy

All Celebrant Society training courses are designed to help you become successful as quickly as possible. From the basic introduction course through to a range of master classes to enhance specific areas, they are delivered with style, humour and understanding to get the best possible results for you.

Two day intensive seminar and practical:

Our two day seminars are held either during the week or partly over the weekend. Practical training must be held on a weekday as it would involve a crematorium or graveyard visit.

Course content includes:

  • 'Trigger questions' when meeting a family
  • Structuring your eulogy scripts
  • the structure of a funeral service
  • music
  • protocol
  • types of funeral - expected, suicide, murder, sudden death
  • liaising with the funeral director and crematorium or burial staff
  • types of readings and poems
  • Scripts for a wedding ceremony
  • the renewal of wedding vows
  • civil partnerships
  • baby naming
  • the duties of a celebrant
  • dress codes
  • body language
  • marketing, pricing and public liability insurance.



The two day course includes an accommodation allowance and both courses include a full script writing checking service.

Distance Learning

An entire manual will be enclosed covering all aspects of funeral ceremonies, and weddings. Distance learning includes tutor mentoring and induction into our network of celebrants.
